This month, we’re encouraging everyone to get walking for National Walking Month. From the 16th of May to the 20th of May, get your shoes on, tie those laces up tight, and get walking, to and from your school!
Sponsored by Living Streets, the aim of the event is to give children first-hand experience of walking to school. An opportunity to pound those pavements, peek at a few flowers, and wave goodbye to the car. Walking is the simplest and one of the cheapest ways for all children to get involved in active travel.
Start walking and build your way towards your child’s recommended 60 minutes of activity per day. Energise a child’s day with a morning of walking and they’ll be better equipped for a day of learning and activity. Swap the car for your two feet and you can contribute to a cleaner safer environment for your children by reducing air pollution.
Last year, more than 350,000 children took part, making for cleaner air, stronger bodies, and a more alert start to the day. Download a pack for your school with a range of activities and campaigns to get the word out and make this the biggest year yet!
