**IMPORTANT PRESS RELEASE FROM AfPE RE THE STATUS AND FUNDING OF THE PRIMARY PE AND SPORT PREMIUM**
Following the Government’s announcement that there will be a General Election on June 8th, the Association for Physical Education (afPE) has received enquiries from members, Business Associates and colleagues surrounding the status and funding of the Primary PE and Sport Premium.
afPE has been in contact with representatives at the Department for Education and as a result the Association is pleased to confirm that the General Election will NOT impact on the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding for this academic year. Payment of the grant will go out directly to schools in April and May as originally scheduled.
We are delighted that schools will continue to receive this important financial support to ensure that they are able to provide high quality curriculum physical education, access to school sport and embed a commitment to keep pupils physically active. We are faced with many challenges and enabling pupils to be taught by good or outstanding teachers, remain physically and emotional well, will enable pupils to achieve the very best that they can.
It is important that Governors and Head teachers use their Primary PE and Sport Premium funding effectively to achieve all of these outcomes, whilst keeping pupils safe.
